Army Daze

Caught Army Daze at the Drama Center. This is the first time I am watching a play there. My friend KC bought the tickets which were situated at Circle two. It was way, way up there. Make me feel like we are watching opera :p

Anyway, the play was first shown in theater in 1987. This year it was produced by The Toy Factory theatre ensemble. There are quite a few well know cast, including Hossan Leong as Malcom Png, Selena Tan as his overbearing mother, my favourite entertainer Kumar as Lathi and Sebastian Tan (from Ms Saigon the Broadway musical) as Ah Beng

The plot is basically about 5 young boy who went to serve National Service in the army under the Singapore law. Malcom, Krishna, Ah Beng, Kenny and Johari came from different background in life and they have to endure each other throughout the first three month of BMT (Basic Military Training) at Pulau Tekong. They eventually learn that army is not just about camouflage, grenade and 5BX.

Overall it tickles me enough to give it 4 out of 5 star.
