The last of Kwong Hou Sua Teochew Cemetery

I visited my great-grandfather and his wife's tomb during the Qing Ming festival back in 2006.

Last year my dad went on his own I think. But this year my father asked me to company him again. It turns out to be the last time I am visiting the Guang Xiao Shan (Kwong Hou Sua) Teochew Cemetery...

Apparently, LTA has issued an exhumation notice to make way for the downtown line which will cut through the cemetery.

From LTA website:
The Kwong Hou Sua Teochew Cemetery is an old burial ground located on State land off Woodlands Road. This cemetery has been closed for burial since the early 1970's. Part of the burial ground (see location map below) is required for the development of the proposed depot for Downtown Line Stage 2. Land Transport Authority (LTA) will soon undertake the exhumation of the affected graves.

Somehow, I will miss this place, even though I have been to it only twice....

Wanted: Straits Times on the loose

I was so pissed that I couldn't grab my hands on the local newspapers at 8.45pm in the office. It prompted me to send out this (hate) mail....

Subject: Wanted: Straits Times on the Loose

To All,

The Straits Times has disappeared from the four walls of the pantry. It is not known if it has gotten out of this secured facility with any assistance. Some physical breach must have taken place and it is not the first escape.

Please bring it back to the pantry if you happen to see it lying anywhere in this facility.

Life and death, hits and misses...

Lots have happened since my last blog entry...

Ah Meng from the Singapore Zoo, our iconic tourism board ambassador, died at the age of 50 years old....attracted 4000 people to attend her funeral. (I don't think I will even have 1/10 of that no. of people attending my funeral).

Fei Fei, Lydia Sum died after long battle with liver problem....

Edison Chen scandal continues for a few week... he finally apologizes and leaves Hong Kong entertainment scene...

Singapore won the inaugural Youth Olympic 2010, created one of the longest queue for a public event, produces a splendid budget surplus, then loses a limping terrorist.
